The term visual arts can have different meanings. To some it is a passion, to others it is just a job. To me it is just a new and growing hobby that I would love to turn into a passion and a job. Just recently I have been reunited with my love for art and design. When I was in 5th grade, I was put into an advanced drawing class against my will and I have grown to enjoy it and then became very good at drawing. Eventually I was exposed to the internet and web design. I found it very hard and quit. Recently my best friend started to become attatched with art and web design, which sparked the memory from when I used to enjoy art also. I also want to improve my abilities to code and design, to make my work more successful. I need to develop an understanding in many web development languages. I also wish to learn how to create animations to turn my art speak and have motion in it. I want to learn how to make my designs more effective so I could be able to help protect businesses with my talents. Also throughout my chase for knowledge I need to improve my sense of taste which will give me a stronger understanding in User Interface of design. There are many different things that I don’t know about with graphic designing and would love to learn everything about it.
I wasn’t very sure about how beginning graphic designers advance to higher positions, however, I now found out that, “Beginning graphic designers usually receive on-the-job training and normally need 1 to 3 years of training before they can advance to higher positions” (source 3). I know now that when you think yu kno a lot about graphic design, there is always more to learn and before you get promoted you have to have a few years experience or training before that happens. I always thought that if I wanted to become a graphic designer all I have to do is get an education in graphic design. According to a personal interview, “It’s not that easy to just get an education in graphic design. Tuition costs have been rising and most of the programs that companies require to use have been rising in cost also” (Kazak, 2008).
