The purpose of this procedure is to prepare your grill for cooking. The intended audience is anyone that likes barbecue, and wants to learn the proper way to light up the grill. Take the water and completely wet the grate. After the grate is wet, scrub it with the wire brush, this will begin to loosen any debris stuck to the grill. Next spray cleaner onto the grate, scrub again then spray water to rinse off cleaner, and any debris that is left. Repeat the previous steps until grill is clean. One the grate is clean to your liking, set the grate to the side so it can dry. Next scoop out any ash, and remove any grease. I like to use a dust pan to scoop out the ash but a small shovel can work as well. Ash can smother the charcoal putting the fire out. When all the ash is out of your barbeque pit, wipe out any grease left at the bottom. If grease is left in the bottom of the grill it can cause flair ups, flair ups can cause your food to burn. Once you grill is clean you can move on to the next step.
Second major step is to properly set up your grill for you barbeque. First you will need to figure out how much charcoal you are going to need. I recommend one layer for burgers, and steaks. Two layers for roast and chickens. Open charcoal bag pour enough charcoal to make required layers. Stack coals in to a pyramided. Open bottle of lighter fluid and pour over coals use ¼ cup per one pound of coals. Allow coals to sit for about one minute. With a long match light two sides of the pyramid. Permit the coals to burn until they are white on the surface. When coals are white on surface, use an instrument with long handle spread coals evenly. Get the grate you set aside, and set into its spot in the grill, cover with lid for about 5 minute. Now you can begin cooking.
Thus concludes how to clean, set up, and light your grill. It is time to say good bye may all your barbeques be joyful and fulfilling. Thank you for your time.
