Marijuana Should Be Legalized for Medicinal Use
October 4, 2013
I am very passionate about this topic. The reason why is because I have a friend that lost her battle with cancer I was there to see how this disease was tearing her apart and how the use of Marijuana help to ease her pain. Although her doctor did not prescribe medical marijuana as a relief for her pain and discomfort, she was able to self-medicate. It tore me up inside to see my dear friend hold on to life in such pain and discomfort. Oh but the days when she was able to help herself to a remedy(Marijuana) what a joy to see some of her old-self come out to play. ...view middle of the document...
I wonder how many people know that medical marijuana can also help a person with glaucoma this is a condition where the damage is to the eye’s optic nerve. The optic nerve is connected to the retina a layer of light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye and is made up of many nerve fibers, like an electric cable is made up of many wires. It is the optic nerve that sends signals from your retina to your brain, where these signals are interpreted as the images that you see. (Medicine Net)
I would argue the fact that if Marijuana was to be legalized it would cut down on the criminal side by cutting out the middle man (buying it off the street) and could be and documented. Marijuana for medicinal purposes would be prescribed by a physician and it would give the person with the disease some hope while dealing with their ailment. I would also point out by making this legal for the use of medicinal purpose would give Congress the chance to tax Marijuana and by doing this it will contribute to the economy. This however, would not stop the selling and purchasing of marijuana on the streets for those who want to use it for personal use, but it would give the person (s) that really need it a chance to get it without the fear of getting arrested for committing a crime.
