Significance of the Study
The research paper about the effects of online games to the sophomore students of St. Thomas Academy contributes to the Thomasians who was concerned for those who neglected their academic performances. It also provides to other students of STA who was interested to know/learn about this study.
Scope and Limitations of the Study
The scopes and limitation of this study are the sophomore students of St. Thomas Academy. We choose them because we want to find out how the online games really affect to them especially on their academic performances. This is only a scope on the effects of online games to the second year students of St. Thomas Academy SY. 2012-2013
Definition of terms
Online games- are a game that can be run from an Internet browser and requires the I-net connection.
Racing/simulation games- are often one and the same as a hybrid racing game and most online games allow you to customize your vehicle, race, earn cash, gas, and other strategic factors to play their game.
Adult/gambling/erotic games- are also gaining ground online, as most things in this genre live on the web these days. However not all adult games have to be raunchy and distasteful.
Massively multiplayer online game (also called MMO and MMOG) - is a multiplayer video game which is capable of supporting hundreds or thousands of players simultaneously.
First-person shooter (FPS) - is a video game genre centered on gun and projectile weapon-based combat through a first-person perspective; that is, the player experiences the action through the eyes of the protagonist.
Sophomore- a student in a second year class of a high school, college/university.
