Why is there a plethora of obese children in this world we live in? what is obesity? Obesity is when the body has too much fat. 8.4% of two to five year olds were obese. 17.7% of six to eleven year olds and 20.5% of twelve to nineteen year olds were obese. Obesity has more than quadrupled in the past 30 years. One third of the children in 2012 were obese. Being overweight puts young little kiddos at serious health risks. Mostly cardiovascular other risks are bone and joint problems, sleep apnea, type 2 diabetes and social and psychological problems such as poor self-esteem. These are some simple things we eat every day. Well hopefully not every day. Teenagers consume up to half of their daily calories at school in one meal. Rural communities are affected by obesity more than urban. Forty percent of rural people are obese. People living in rural communities have an eighteen percent more chance of becoming obese. Some reasons are we are more isolated. It is harder to come by healthier foods all the time. We also cook at home a lot more we use butter, salt sugar, things that make food good. Most homemade food has a higher fat content than if we went to a restaurant, but not a fast food place. About seventy million people live in the United States live in rural communities. Another factor is it is harder to go work out if there isn’t a gym close around, and gym equipment is not cheap (neither is organic food)! Researchers have found out that younger adults are more susceptible to gain weight because of environment changes like going to college getting in a serious relationship there are many reasons, but younger rural adults have had more physical activity.
