Personal Ethical Leadership Profile
To be a successful leader I believe ethics has to play a major role in individuals who are responsible for running organizations. In today’s business world I see emphasis on short term results that benefit a few rather than long term strategic results that benefit the mass. The results are massive layoffs, record foreclosures, and major companies going bankrupt/out of business just to name a few. I think our current economic environment is a result of short term thinking and lack of ethical ...view middle of the document...
I am extremely excited for the opportunity to implement these important ethical traits into a company of my own. My responsibility is to transcend these traits to others in leadership positions such as our Vice President of Business Development (mother-in-law), Vice President of Marketing (mother), and even the President (wife). Although small, if everyone shares the same values, then our company will continue to be strong because front line employees will perform based on strong ethical values. What is important to me is bringing people together at all levels to make a difference in the lives of employees, customers, communities, and overall society. Quite frankly, I believe transcending ethical values to managers within organizations is a problem for many organizations which leads to many of the problems today. Today we see how unethical behaviors such as greed have polluted top management then filters down to the rest of the company. The results are disastrous in today’s economy. This reflects the unacceptable behavior of actively benefiting from unethical actions and acting on opportunistic situations where my score is one. This type of unethical behavior is something I have eliminated from my company by creating an atmosphere based on such things as integrity, trust, and fairness. I want everyone at every level to embrace these principals.
I now know why GOD placed me in this type of industry/business of serving people who need the most help. I would have never imagined I would be the owner of a company servicing the elderly population. My aspirations were to become a CEO of a fortune 500 company one day. Some of these same companies have battled or are currently battling ethical issues today. Some of these companies have actively engaged in behaviors that are unethical. My company has put me in a position to demonstrate ethical leadership through implementing values, beliefs, and behaviors which has benefits for everyone and not just a few at the top. This business has allowed me to put my proven servant leadership style into action. It is important for me to empower others to make decisions, take control of difficult situations, and share ideas. By focusing on the values of our company, I am confident that the right actions will be performed at all times. We as a company have to be connected to each other and the best way to stay connected is to empower others to make strategic decisions. My willingness to be a servant leader rather than utilizing other leadership styles has enabled everyone to be a part of a company which main focus is to serve others. When our employees are happy and our customers are happy, I get a sense of satisfaction which is hard to explain. At the end of the day what really pleases me is the help that is provided for everyone that is a part of WE CARE Senior Caregiver Services. I truly believe this is part of my servant leadership approach and why GOD has placed me in an industry to help...
