ï»¿DISCUSS THE LOGIC OF DEPARTMENTALISATION
Departmentalization consists of 2 categories. The first category being â€˜The Size of an Enterpriseâ€™, and the second category being â€˜The Growth of Specialization (division of labour) in the activities of the enterpriseâ€™.
Letâ€™s now analyse these two above mentioned categories in more details.
It is considered appropriate for a manager to control, up to a certain limit, the size of activities currently being undertaken by employees within an enterprise, in a direct way. He is responsible in directing and controlling his subordinates and make sure that his commands are being put into appropriate actions, accordingly.

Manpower planning helps the organization to know how its personnel are employed and how their skills are being used.
Systematic manpower planning facilitates similar approach in other aspects of staffing.
Manpower planning is hence about matching the right jobs to the rightly eligible individual, who will be able to perform the jobs to the best satisfaction of the enterprise.
EXAMINE THE ROLE OF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
All organisations have to train their staffs, no matter what. However each organisation can utilise different methods and strategies in doing so. The primary concern of an organization is its viability, and hence its efficiency. There is continuous environment pressure for efficiency, and if the organization does not respond to this pressure, it may find itself rapidly losing whatever share of the market which it has. In other words, the more continuous training is provided to the employees, the better the latter will perform at work, hence being more efficient at their respective tasks. Training can play the following roles in an organization:
Increase Efficiency â€“ Training plays active role in increasing efficiency of employees in an organization. Training increases skills for doing a job in better way.
Increase in Morale of Employees â€“ Training increases morale of employees. Morale is a mental condition of an individual or group which determines the willingness to cooperate.
Better Human Relations â€“ Training attempts to increase the quality of human relations in an organization.
