Describe the role of the project manager and identify the project management key elements of an effective project manager.
Project management briefly refers to a process of managing a project successfully. Then, in order to achieve an outstanding project outcome; resources, costs, time and even the quality of projects should be optimally managed in this process (Meredith and Mantel, 2010). The project manager, therefore, performs a core role in a project.

An example of this; the project manager should make a specific risk management plan in case that there is an attendance of possible risks. Furthermore, the project manager is required to stimulate the effective communication between project stakeholders like a catalytic agent at this phase (Gardiner, 2005). The purpose of this action is to ensure the project strategy meets stakeholders’ interest. Each relevant element is, therefore, required to be reasonably planned and organised by the project manager.
By the time a project progresses to the execution phase, the project requires the greatest level of effort in its life cycle. Kliem (et al, 1997) described this phase is to execute a project by the plans effectively and efficiently with the goal of achieving or even exceeding the expectations. The project manager should keep reporting project status to stakeholders as the largest responsibility at this phase. That is to say; the visibility of the project is supposed to be clear and transparent. Moreover, stakeholders ought to have a clear acknowledge of how input and capital work during the project. Also, the fact that there are always uncertainty and possible risks within the project should be fully aware (Hartley, 2008). As the result of that, the project manager needs to change the decisions flexibly and quickly based on the circumstance. For example, the cost plan needs to be refixed if the client’s budget is reduced. So, the project manager should perform as an effective administration to guarantee the project’s success. At the last phase, the project is almost completed. However, there are still several issues required to be handled. For instance, the final payments to suppliers ought to be finished once the project’s completed. The more important is; the project outcome should be properly presented to the stakeholders by the project manager (Gido and Clements, 2006). As the project manager at this phase, not only arranging the remanent resource as well as the staff is necessary, a further evaluation is required too (Gardiner, 2005). Its purpose is to summarize previous experience and mistakes, and further sharing them in the other projects.
An effective project manager’s key elements refer to necessary competencies within the process. These competencies present what the project manager requires specifically for a successful project as well as a self-management.
