Nowadays people are very busy with work and studying which is often connected with binding reading of scientific literature, different articles and stuff. Eventually it leads to the lack of interest to reading. In the free time people just want to relax and have fun without any efforts and stress. So they prefer watching tv shows or surfing over the net instead of reading books and that's really mournful.
A book is a storehouse of knowledge and has several advantages. Those who can read books are lucky because the reader of books forgets his worries of the time being and finds pleasure from it.
Good books can broaden our mind and gladden our heart. They can be our best companions, which can enlarge our vision and make our life more meaningful.
While reading people forget themselves. We do not remember the problems and anxieties of the world. We are sent into a land of beauty, imagination and ...view middle of the document...
Jeremy Collier says: "A man as well expects to grow stronger by always eating, as wiser by always reading".It means that by eating good food, a man can become strong in his body; but by reading good books, he can become wise in his mind.
A person who is widely read is able to mix with others: he is a better conversationalist than those who do not read. He can stand his ground. Reading broadens the vision and can be a substitute for travel. It is not possible to travel as much as one would like to and reading can fill in the gap created by the lack of travel. "Reading", as Bacon wrote "maketh a full man: conference a ready man: and writing an exact man". Thus a widely-read man is a better conversationalist and is able to see the other point of view.
Reading also helps one to see the present in relation to the past and the future, and thus develop a historical perspective.
Care is needed to ensure that reading does not become a substitute for real life. The moment one ceases to enjoy the ordinary pleasures and happiness of life and is content to enjoy them vicariously through fictional and historical representations, one loses all the benefits of reading and loses contact with life.
The other reason why reading is so beneficial is that reading improves our thinking process. Reading books require readers to think and imagine about different details in the book such as characters and plot; this provides us to improve our thinking process. Repeating a habit of reading and persuading the brain to be more buoyant and absorb more information will give us a great beneficial. It also obliges readers to focus on what they are reading for long periods. Unlike magazines, internet posts or e-mails that might contain small pieces of information, books tell the whole story. Since the readers must concentrate in order to read, they will improve their concentration, thinking abilities, and plunge them into their brains.
A taste for the reading good books once formed cannot be so easily dislodged. As such the culture of good reading habit calls for a kind of cooperation in which the authorities, the teachers as well as the parents, must be involved.
