You have a new HR Director, they have requested that you review the organisation’s approach to collecting, storing and using HR data and produce a briefing note on your findings. Within your note, you should cover the following:
Briefing Note:
In this briefing note I will be looking at some of the many reasons why the organisation needs to collect data, the two that I have Identified as key for our organisation are enabling the company to contact employees and to show that we can satisfy the law as well as ensure that not only are we compliant but that we can show we are compliant.

Two types of data that are collected within Brandon are firstly recruitment information, such as Shortlisting documents, Interview notes and Interview feedback notes, these are kept to ensure that we are able to show why the decision to hire or not was taken, and to show that all applicants were treated the same. This information is stored and will be used in the event of claim being made in terms of discrimination in regard to not being offered a position within the organisation. Secondly documents relating to individual training such as certificates, Training or briefing records, attendance logs. These are used to show that all staff are trained to the required standard, they will also be used to identify what training is required in the future, in regard to planning what course are required and when they are required.
At Brandon our records are stored in a variety of methods. Such as Electronically, hardcopy (Paper), all paper records will then be archive within the organisation for a specified time period, and then dependant on what the documents are if the documents need to be kept for a longer period they will be...
