Somewhat Poetic...I'm Not Sure What It Was Called... Personal Narrative?

662 words - 3 pages

Imagine a young boy sitting with his family watching the film Halloween two days before the actually holiday. It is his first time watching a "scary" movie, and he is completely thrilled with it. Never before has he seen the threat of death expressed so blatently. Of course, he had seen Wily Coyote blown up dozens of times, but he always comes back to life. This film is expressing that when real people die, they don't come back. He goes to bed that night, but doesn't fall asleep for hours. He's busy checking the shadows for a man in a dark blue jumpsuit and white mask (because he didn't die at the end). Waiting for him to fall asleep so that he can bury his blade in the boy's chest. When sleep does overtake him, the man in the white mask still stalks him. ...view middle of the document...

Writing is a horror novel on a dusty shelf. It is a package of pencils waiting to be bought at the general store. Writing is paper still in the pulp of a gnarled black oak tree. It is a circle, you can always come back to it. Writing will always accept you if you accept it.Writing is short stories, the longest at a maximum of four wide ruled pages when you're 12. Later, it becomes longer. Writing begins in your past. Writing is happiness, true happiness, that is more and more difficult to find.Writing is using your imagination to create a doorway to new worlds. It is a magic that exists in our world that only those that seek it can find. Writing is freedom. Freedom from the stress of everyday life, a sort of pacifier to cherish. How does it happen? That's simple enough. It just happens. It happens to some people when they're bored. To others, writing happens when they've been reading every book they canget their hands on, and they are inspired. Writing happens when your imagination is running wild and you have to share your thoughts or you'll explode! Sometimes, writing happens when you need to release something from your soul. Sometimes, you have to let that small piece of your soul escape onto paper. Now, imagine that same young boy sitting at a computer and typing his words. He is no longer a young boy, but a young man. Soon, college will begin and he will take the first step on the road that is the rest of his life. He is free at the moment. When he finishes for the night, he will pick up a book by Stephen King and read until his eyes get heavy. For, in order to write, one cannot stop reading. Writing ends in the future, but maybe not until the day one dies. Who knows, maybe we can write even after we die. But now, all he knows is that writing is what he lives for.

Although it's likely that the plum post-Voice time period gives The Blacklist most of its ratings juice, I'm no longer shocked that it's the season's biggest
