Now, the paper will shift to discuss a list of strategies to help relieve stress. Stress is â€œthe experience of opportunities or threats that people perceive as important and also perceive they might not be able to handle or deal with effectivelyâ€ (pg.275, Â¶5) (George & Jones, 2005). Many people experience stress at home, work, or both places. During discussions, teammates learned that everyone deals with stress in a different way and have stressors that affect each person differently. Learning Team B compiled a variety of strategies to manage stress:

The importance of balancing the pressures from professional and personal life often becomes forgotten and one needs to be reminded of the times that are occurring. Mayo Clinic (2008) describes the â€œfinding work-life balance in today's frenetically paced world is no simple task. Spend more time at work than at home, and you miss out on a rewarding personal life. Then again, when you face challenges in your personal life, such as caring for an aging parent or coping with marital problems, concentrating on your job can be difficult.â€ By balancing work and life, professional and personal, an individual is able to enjoy both aspects and qualities offered by these settings.
Getting enough sleep and sleeping well are another key factor for managing stress.
â€œWhen your body is sleep deficient, it goes into a state of stress. The body's functions are put on high alert which causes an increase in blood pressure and a production of stress hormones. Higher blood pressure increases your risk for heart attacks and strokes. The stress hormones also, unfortunately, make it harder for you to sleep. Learn relaxation techniques to counter the effects of stressâ€ (Stibich, 2007).
Through much discussion, team members reasoned of the importance to plan what needs to be done and prioritize a daily schedule. This would allow person to attempt to stay focused on everything that needs to be done and in which order in an attempt to control anxiety. A person must make sure that they manage themselves in order to stay on task. Establishing a reasonable timeline also helps a person understand the workload they have and an order in which they can reasonably reach each goal.
