Sentence- a set of words that is complete in itself, typically containing a subject and predicate, conveying a statement, question, exclamation, or command, and consisting of a main clause and sometimes one or more subordinate clauses
The main parts of a sentence:
1. Subject- is that part that names what the sentence is talking about.
2. Predicate- part of the sentence that asserts the subject.
a. Complete Predicate- consist of predicate verb and modifiers.
b. Simple Predicate- verb can stand alone even without a modifier.
The Sub-parts of a sentence:
1. The Direct Object- it answer the question Who or What.

There is no dependent clause in compound sentence.
3. Complex Sentence
A complex sentence consists of one independent clause and at least one dependent clause joined by subordinating conjunction (because, although, since, when, unless etc) or relative pronoun (that, who, which etc).
A Compound-complex sentence consists of at least two independents and one or more dependent clauses.
The Good Sentence
A Good Sentence Must be Unified, Coherent, Emphatic, Accurate, Appropriate and Acceptable.
Unified- a sentence must have only one purpose.
Coherent-this means a sentence should have all its component parts hold on to each other.
Emphatic- means a sentence has only one focus.
Accurate- Sentence must be accurate grammatically.
Appropriate- a good sentence requires appropriateness.
Acceptable- it can be safely said that an appropriate sentence is likewise an acceptable sentence.
Important Ways to a Good Sentence:
1. Guard the sentence against being fragmentary.
2. Guard against run-on, Overloaded or empty sentences.
3. Do not shift to different perspective.
4. Avoid misplaced and dangling modifiers.
5. Observe parallel and uniform construction.
6. Observe proper coordination and subordination.
