This is a summary and personal response to essay “ Farm Girl” by Jessica Hemauer.
This is a story about a girl who’s childhood was spent working on her parents farm, while most of her friends enjoyed their childhood playing sports, watching TV and socializing with other kids. Even though she spent her time working on the farm, this experience was very valuable to her. It thought her to be responsible, that helping your family is very important and that “fitting” in is not always the best thing.

Her dad finally realized that her and her siblings have sacrificed their school activities to help with family business.
Jessica is often thinking about her life and comparing it to the life of her friends. “During all these activities, I always notice that I stick out from the group.” While she always wanted to fit it with everyone else she finds out that she is much better off the way she is. Her life has thought her responsibility, ability to manage time and has shaped her into the individual she is today. She is considered hard working and able to take on more responsibility.

Farm Girl by Jessica Hemauer is a memoir about a young girl working on her parents farm. This was written for your audience to show them her life and how difference experiences shaped her into the responsible your woman. The tone is depressing at times but it still focuses on positive outcome. “ Though I hated it growing up, working on the farm has taught me many lessons about life, and it has shaped me into the individual I am today.”
