SWOT Analysis
A SWOT Analysis is the best way to identify the differences between project-based organizations and non-project based organizations. By conducting a SWOT analysis it helps to determine which organizational structure that is best for the business. By doing the comparison it helps to determine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of project-based organizations and non-project-based organizations. Included in the paper below is an SWOT analysis table to help show what analysis is done to help determine which is best for the organization.

Project managers in this organization run teams of employees who may not be from only one department. Non-project-based organizations, on the other hand, are not designed around projects but on functions.
In a project-based organization, the project manager has direct authority over the project operations. This makes project management understanding in a company better compared to a non-project-based organization. As a result, the project manager can focus on the projects and can determine what areas can be modified. It is more flexible when dealing with projects compared to non-project based organizations. In addition, response time when issues emerge is improved because the project manager has direct control over the projects. The downside of project-based organizations is the possible duplication of resources and employees keep moving from one project to another. The resources are duplicated because each project has its own need of resources and expertise. Because the employees keep moving, their professional growth suffers. But because project-based organizations focus on projects, more projects can be done at the same time. They have the opportunity to expand when these projects are successful. On the other hand, they are threatened of losing a large amount of money if these projects fail.
