Technology in Education
In today’s society many technologies have become useful in education. To make students successful in education today, we must use all tools that are given to us. We must realize that our students today are being brought up in an age of technology that has never been seen before. Today most homes have computers in them and most children are more literate to technology. The need for students today is to learn and make use of the skills that they have in technology and use them in the classroom. By using technology to help with projects, students can retrieve valuable information from the internet. They should be able to do so without plagiarizing the material. Technology can advance a student’s learning and be very useful in what they can accomplish in the classroom. They must use critical thinking skills to find the information that can be given using technology in the classroom. It can be a challenging experience, but will benefit their education in the long run. Many students will catch on to using technology and find that it can get assignments done faster and easier if used correctly.
There are many courses available online via the internet for K-12 to use. The reach is much larger and broader than what is available in the traditional school (Gray, 2005). Teachers today have so many tools at the tips of their fingers. None of this was even available ten years ago. That is how much technology has come in such a short period of time. It is amazing that you can research any subject within minutes. This is making learning easier for students and teachers. I think that every area is being covered by the NETS. If educators today are implementing these requirements every skill will be utilized in every grade level.
This is also giving parents to opportunity to help their children with subjects or problems they did not have answers to.
