Vietnam has enough elements to develop tourism into a spearhead economic sector. With tourism potential and rich diversity, this country is a popular destination in the world. In 2008, Vietnam welcomed 4.218 million international passengers; this figure in 2009 was 3.8 million, down 11% over the previous year. Vietnam National Administration of Tourism predicts the number of international visitors to Vietnam in 2010 was 4.5 to 4.6 million; the number of domestic tourists was 28 million in 2010, up 12% to 2009. By 2011, with 7 heritage by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites in Vietnam including the Ho dynasty, Thang Long royal citadel, relics Hue, Halong Bay, ancient Hoi An, My Son Sanctuary and National Park, Phong Nha - Ke Bang. Vietnam has 117 museums including the ministries manager 38, the local management 79. Two museum of national history was the Vietnam Revolutionary Museum and the Museum of Vietnam's history is now proposed to add the National History Museum.

Report Service Sector Survey 2011 hotel conducted by Grant Thornton Vietnam shows the information about financial situation as well as marketing activities of hotels and resorts Vietnam for fiscal year 2010 .To facilitate the presentation, the word "hotel" as used in this report is to only hotels and resorts, with survey data were made to the hotel from three to five stars. Statistics are presented by Star Rating (ranked hotels) The hotel (rooms) and Region (hotel location). When presenting statistics, scale hotels are ranked from small to large, namely less than 75 hotel rooms, from 75 to 150 hotel rooms and more than 150 rooms. To ensure representativeness of the data, in every aspect of the survey, we ensure that at least six participating hotels. Finally, regions of the hotel is divided in three main areas of Vietnam that the North Central - Central Highlands and the South. With the North, the surveyed hotels mainly in Hanoi and Ha Long. In the Center - Highland, the surveyed hotels in the area of ​​Da Nang, Hoi An, Hue, Nha Trang, Phan Thiet and Da Lat.
