Claim: It is no longer possible for a society to regard any living man or woman as a hero.
Reason: The reputation of anyone who is subjected to media scrutiny will eventually be diminished.
The issue oversimplifies the relationship between mass media and the hero in our society, and consequently make a somewhat naïve claim. As far as I am concerned, there is no doubt that media is mirror of the society, which can reflect the world in its true colors. However, heroes are still existing in the world.
To begin with, the first reason that can be presented to support my opinion is that media claims to depit ‘today’, but not all types of media show only the truth. Both common sense and personal experience have told us that in order to make huge profits and grab greater attention ...view middle of the document...
Hence, seeking the way to solve the potential problems of the media is also of significant importance for our society.
Despite the negative aspect of mass media discussed above, another reason for me to hold my opinion is that even if hero would make some faults in their daily life, we can not deny their contribution to the society. As we know, nobody is perfect, and hero is no an exception. Consider, for example, Clinton is considered to misuse his power in deceiving public about his wrongdoing as well as his undisciplined behavior. However, he is still the model of presidents in American history who play an important role in drawing American economy to the right track and tackling many problems rooted in the American society. Thus, since a hero is common person in his daily life, we can not set a perfect moral image for them.
Ultimately, I maintain that media should serve as the beat means for propaganda the positive influence of heroes to populace. Actually, it is only through the media that we come to know about heroes in different fields. On the one hand, media should give heroes an excellent platform to present themselves in front of the world. On the other hand, a hero should set a good example for multitude. For example, the richest man in the world, Bill Gates, is now more focused on his philanthropic endeavors, who is the hero in the commercial world and make great contributions to the betterment of human lifestyle over a period of time. Therefore, in light of this , the fortes of a hero will overwhelm its faults
On the whole, it seems that the initial topic should be reformulated to avoid the deterministic connotation . Indeed, merely excessive emphasis on media or the role of heroes may overlook the essence of problems. Hence, both these two factors should be taken into account. Otherwise, the statement will remain untenable.
