Computer gaming has become a $25 billion-a year entertainment business behemoth since the first coin-operated commercial videogames hit the market 41 years ago. In 2010, gaming companies sold 257 million videos and computer games, according to figures compiled by the industry's trade group, the Entertainment Software Association. Every year the importance of videogames are increasing. When anything getting more popular and main stream, it is normal to bring some controversy with its success. But, this very few negative outcomes should not discredit the many benefit that videogames offer.

When there is no available entertainment, kids forced to try different way of entertaining themselves. Playing video game is very entertaining. The challenge to win the game, the satisfaction of finishing one level of the game, and to reach the end level of the game makes the process enjoyable. There are many levels in typical video games. Each level has different levels of difficulties. These levels occupy wandering kids mind focused on the game. The author only emphasize on the negative side effect of videogame addiction. But, if anything done without balance could be addictive. It’s individual’s responsibility to balance their recreation time with their other life duty.
Designed specifically for educational purpose, educational video games provide a good way for teaching peoples easily. In his essay, Anderson writes, “Today we are living, for better and worse, in a world of stupid games.” Unlike the author claims not all games are stupid. There are plenty of games that teach skills that employers want: analytical thinking, team building, multitasking and problem solving under pressure. Unlike humans, videogames never lose patience. And they are second nature to many kids. There are lots of things that could be learned with video games. For instance typing words on computer, playing piano, developing vocabulary and mathematical skill are some of them. For instance simple videogames displaying the picture and black space to be filled by the player teaches how to spell word correctly. Since video games are not like people, they don’t get
tired or emotional, so it is possible to play one game again and again till the player achieves skill in that particular game.
In addition to being excellent entertainment and educational media, video games are good tool for developing cognitive and coordination skills. Recently videogames has gained lots of bad rap as causing inactivity and obesity on teenagers, but the new games that coming out recently are more demanding physical activity.
