Analysis of an argument: Stem cell research
In the transcript that contained information from Ron Reagan Jr’s speech, I found many techniques which were successfully used in his argument to support stem cell research. To begin, I liked how the author provided a good background of the topic. Doing this allowed anyone to be able to understand the topic, which would overall influence their understanding of the speech. She’s very brave”. By doing this, the author shows the dramatic impact that the juvenile diabetes has on the young girl, without specially implying it. This is intently done, as it serves to emotionally impact the reader, due to the authors overall relaxed tone. This ties into the whole idea. This one example represents a larger problem on a massive scale. Lastly, he wraps his speech up with a strong call to action in the seventieth paragraph by stating, “We can chose between reason and ignorance, between the compassion and mere ideology. This is our moment, and we must not falter”. His call to action provokes me to become involved in his cause, even if I’m not sure how to do it! Overall, his argument was exceptionally solid and successfully persuaded me to support his cause.
Overall, when I first received my topic I was somewhat thrilled, simply because I was unaware of how massive the issue is, and also how much it has developed into a major problem. More research really didn’t change my opinion on the fact about drug testing these people. The research only proved to show how much fraud is present and how many individuals are need help these days. Help that...
