INTRODUCTION: Since time in memorial it’s been a part of the Ghanaian culture to seek spiritual help for problems pertaining to health be it mental or physical. This can be attributed to the strong belief and reverence we have for deities and the Supreme Being. Before Colonization we had our own belief systems and methods and modes of worship. These for one reason or the other seemed to work; and from my observation I could say this could be based on psychological adaptations. There are different religions; Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, traditional and the like. AFFECTION With the affection they get from these healers a bond is created and through mind control which unknown to the healers that they have mastered over time, they are able to break the mental barriers that these patients may be imprisoned in.

LITERACY EFFECT; the degree of illiteracy is high enough for a larger part of the citizenship to refuse to come to terms with the fact that these alternative methods are not healthy. Denial and ignorance are rampant and as such it will be hard to let them accept that these unorthodox methods may not be entirely good for them due to lack or education
Also the trust and allegiance they have for the healers and tradition as well as their need to maintain history and not become “all white man’s style” keeps these alternative methods in operation.
