Why college education is important to me?

I strongly believe one of the most critical ways of reaching your dreams and goals in life are to have a college education. Without a college education you may find it extremely difficult to have a good enough career that will provide you and your family with enough money to do the extra things in life that are pleasurable and exciting. I also strongly believe that having a college education will teach my children that continuing their education beyond high school equals success for them in the future. Without a college education one cannot reach their full potential thus making them unable to achieve their highest and most sought after dreams and goals.
One of the main reasons to continue your education and get a college degree is that it opens many doors of opportunity and allows us to obtain a better career. It is hard to find a decent job that will pay you a decent ...view middle of the document...

I was a stay at home mother for six years freshly out of high school, I was married at seventeen and had my first child by the time I was nineteen. I stayed at home and took care of the kids while my husband went to work and school. We split up a couple months before he finished school and he got a job making very good money. I myself had a high school education and only had a very average paying job. So a year later when he took me back to court to get custody of the kids, he won. The main reason he was able to win was because of the amount of money he made would better and fully take care of the children compared to the amount of money I made. I am hoping that in going back to school and continuing my education now I will be able to get a better job and be able to get my kids back with me.
I want to teach my children that anybody can continue their education no matter how old, or how long it has been since they last went to school. I am starting my college education at the age of 29, and although it took me a while to believe it myself, I now know that I can still reach my dreams and goals and I am doing it for myself and my children. Parents have been repeating the mantra of “go to college” to their children for decades, but I believe a stronger message will be sent if my children see me go to college. They have been there and seen us struggle and one dream and goal that I have is for them to see the transformation a college degree can bring.
A better career, a better life, and being a good role model for our children are all very good reasons to continue our education. Many people believe it is too late to start, or they don’t have the time, or they don’t think they can do it. I am here to say that it is never too late to chase your dreams and accomplish your goals. I hope that within one year I will accomplish more than one goal and teach my children that anybody can continue their education if they really want it they will make a way.
