Understand Partnership Working
1.1- Identify the features of effective partnership working
Partnership working is an agreement between two or more organisations or individuals to work together to improve a service or an individual’s life and situation. Working partnerships take on different forms depending on the needs and circumstances of the individual. 1.2 – Explain the Importance of partnership working: Colleagues, other professionals, others
Partnership working is important as it helps protect individuals and ensures that the individual is involved in the decision making.
As a manager it is very important that I work with people to ensure the best care and support is provided. These people could be families, carers, social workers, Doctors, Occupational Therapists, Welfare benefits advisors, voluntary organisations and advocates. I need to have good communication skills to ensure that the group works together for the same outcomes and the individual is supported and listened to.
1.3 – Analyse how partnership working delivers better outcomes
Partnership working improves the quality of care and enhances the way in which I provide services. As each member of the partnership has a clear role and purpose it enables better communication and better co-ordination between everyone involved.
The main aims of the groups I work with are:
a. Person centred way of working with individuals
b. Improved organisational planning
c. Enables group problem solving so that it is not the responsibility of one person
d. Improves working relations between organisations
e. Avoids duplication of work
f. Using existing resources
1.4 – Explain how to overcome barriers to partnership working
To overcome barriers and ensure a partnership works I need to ensure that the group has the same shred goals and objectives for the individual. I need to ensure that communication and sharing information is maintained and everyone is involved in key decisions. The partnership also need to commit to joint protocols, meetings and the contribution of all members of the partnership.
Everyone in the partnership must know what the overall goal and aims are. I need to ensure that everyone has the same account of the current situation and as a way forward. Agree times and dates for meetings and ensure I give regular feedback and updates to all members. Members also need to respect and value the contribution of all members.

As a manager I need to maintain and develop professional working relationships. I need to ensure that I represent my organisations values are followed. I need to ensure my team understands all policies, procedures and working practices and ensure they can share ideas at staff meetings or supervision meetings.
To do this I need to communicate and listen to my staff team. I also need to be able to manage conflict within the team. I like to involve team members and support them through a procedure.
