Writing an Argument
Deciding to pursue a master’s degree in Business Administration is a decision worth sincerely contemplating. Not only may it boost in your self-esteem but you will obtain satisfaction for your ability to get recognized professionally. It can be an effective tool to enhance or advance one's career if carefully researched career goals are considered. It is an enormous commitment of time, personal sacrifice and financial investment and those who consider pursing it need to consider its value prior to pursing it. Also in my current field the only advancement position is Housing Project Coordinator and this is a career that I really do not have an interest in pursuing.
MBA program in University of Phoenix, gave me the chance to see it was the right time to decide and pursue the MBA program not only to reach my personal goal, however, it can assist me in becoming a more effective leader in my current role, sharpen my managerial skills and use tools such as communication, creativity to motivating others and offer great leadership skills. In my current career the opportunities to advance is limited and is also a field that just does not interest me. My Jungian 16 type Personality- INFP which means people perceives me as reserved, creative, and highly idealistic. I definitely agree with the score; I am very creative and have a reserved personality about myself.
Pros and Cons of getting my MBA
The slow down of the US economy has caused companies to start to down sizing, reducing their workforce by layoffs or closing down completely. The City of Tucson has certainly had to deal with the reduction of workforce such as layoff and the reduction of pay like furloughs. (cityoftucson.org) During the recent reduction in furloughs I decided that continuing my education would be a very important addition to resume and for a better chance to be available for the private sector if things were to become worse at my job. Furthermore, an MBA can enhance the skills I have already acquired in the workforce to make me a more effective employee and in leadership. As stated by (2011, p.401-402) “The cause-and-effect essay establishes a causal link between two circumstances. The thesis usually answers the question ‘Why?’” When stating the pros and cons about pursing my MBA it’s an exciting and rewarding life-changing moment especially since I already have a lot on my plate: mother of four children, working a full-time job, occasional take on part-time jobs while going to school one night a week. Many family, co-workers and friends have told me isn’t it expensive to go back to college?
