The Registered Nurse and the Medical assistant will see the patient next. The Registered Nurse will be checking blood pressure, temperature, blood glucose levels, calling in prescriptions for the patient and carrying out the orders of the Nurse Practitioner. The Medical Assistant will help with bathing, helping the patient with activities of everyday living and making sure the patient is following the Nurse Practitioners orders regarding their specific treatment plan. Both the Registered Nurse and the Medical Assistant will be communicating the required information of the patient to the Nurse Practitioner. If the Medical Assistant notices a change in the patient’s status the Medical Assistant will contact the Registered Nurse and the Registered Nurse will then go check on the patient. The Registered Nurses duty is to teach and answer any questions that the patient may have. The Registered Nurse will be doing things that the Medical Assistant is not capable of doing, like for example giving medication, giving medication through IV’s, doing tube feedings or doing wound care. Those are things that a Medical Assistant is unable to do because it is outside of their scope of practice. The Office Managers job is to make sure the office is under control, it involves ordering supplies, making sure that the patients has all of their medication refills on time, making the schedules, making sure that the patient is seen by the correct staff member on the correct day and doing payroll. The secretary is an assistant to the Office Manager. The Secretary will be the one to answer the calls and input the schedules and supply information into the database after receiving it from the office manager.
