SUBJECT: Heart Transplant
After a very thorough and intensive process I have decided to give the heart to Lisa. This was a very tough decision to make and although every one of these people deserve this heart I have found it to be in the best interest of everyone that Lisa gets the heart. The utilitarianism theory and hedonistic utilitarianism have greatly affected my thinking and have helped me come to this conclusion. He has finally turned his life around and helping others by mentoring them so that they don’t make the same mistakes he did. Since this is a very recent change (only a couple of months), there is as chance for him to go back to his bad habits and if this happens the new heart will go to waste. Unlike the other candidates such as Lisa, it was Ozzy’s choice to do drugs knowing the consequences of his actions and how much this can harm his body. He also has no family so; there is no one to worry about if he has passed.
* Lisa and Dr. Doe: I put these two in the same category because Dr. Doe wants the heart for his daughter Lisa. Lisa is a very good child and is still experiencing many new things in life. She has many other health issues which causes her heart problem and even though she is getting the heart her chances of living a long life are not great. Unlike other candidates Lisa was born with these health problems, it was not her choice to be sick. Since Lisa’s parents cannot have any more children and she is their only child, time is precious and they want to spend as much of it as they can. Lisa’s Dad, Dr. Jonathon Doe is offering $2 million dollars to the hospital which it greatly needs. He is liked by the hospital and his daughter so he must be a good man. The...
